In loving memory of Bruce Woods
Bruce Woods, one of the founding board members of the Merrillville Education Foundation, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the age of 78. He was a retired Merrillville teacher and admired community member of Northwest Indiana.
Grant Spotlight – Out in the Garden
With the “Out in the Garden” project, MIS students will have the opportunity of an outdoor learning component for their Math and Science classes where they can apply the skills that they learned in the classroom to the gardens.
Merrillville Education Foundation helps students get connected!
The Merrillville School Board recently accepted a gift of $6,000 from the Merrillville Education Foundation to purchase hotspots for families who need internet connections.
Round 36 grants for 10 MCSC programs awarded
The grants for Round 36 were awarded in May of 2020. Ten grants totaling $7,943.11 were awarded to enhance learning experiences for Merrillville students.

Eat at Old Chicago for our monthly “first Tuesday” fundraiser through May
On the first Tuesday of the month through May, 2020, enjoy dinner at Old Chicago Restaurant, 740 E. 81st Street, Merrillville, between 6-9 p.m., and ten percent of your net meal charges will be donated to MEF by Old Chicago.
Round 35 grants for 14 MCSC programs awarded
The grants for Round 35 were awarded in October of 2019. Fourteen grants totaling $7,506.69 were awarded to enhance learning experiences for Merrillville students.
